REPAIR This! – Random resources

1) A new website http://www.ifixit.com where tinkerers post their DIY fixes for electronic devices

2) Repair Cafés are free meeting places and they’re all about repairing things (together). You’ll find tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need. On clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, crockery, appliances, toys, et cetera. You’ll also find repair specialists such as electricians, seamstresses, carpenters and bicycle mechanics. Bring your broken items from home. Together with the specialists start making your repairs in the Repair Café. It’s an ongoing learning process. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, lend a hand with someone else’s repair, get inspired at the reading table.

They are mostly in Europe and the US coasts so you may be a pioneer in starting your own. My local one is hosts more-or-less monthly events

3) Glass Christmas Ornaments. As I’m putting ornaments away I fondly look at the old glass ones with missing hangers, clips & bird tails. I did a quick search and find that you can actually order the missing parts from D. Blumchen & Co . Do this now while you’re thinking about it so they’ll be in you boxes next Christmas.
